Retailing is very important because it lessens the cost of products that you or your family my need. For example, you won’t have to approach the makers of toilet paper every time you want to buy a new roll. You just have to visit your favorite supermarket and purchase a fresh supply. In short retailers make it easier for us to buy whatever we  need, because they’re the ones who buy from the manufacturers. And retailers even vary to providing personal services.

  1. Sales Associate

What is retail without sales? Retail industries thrive because there is a need to purchase something from them, may it be food, services, clothing and the like. Sales people assists the shopper to find what they plan or want to buy. The most basic job in a retail industry would be this position. The perk is, sales people usually get a commission for every merchandise or product sold.

  1. Telesales

Sales associate are tasked to close the deal with the customers apart from assisting them in looking for what they want to buy. Telesales on the other hand, depending on what industry, are responsible for cold calling. Telesales are used as engines to update, follow up sales deals.

  1. Store Manager

Being the store manager means you are in charge of the store . Every time there’s a disgruntled customer, customer always asks for the Manager. Why? Because he/she is in charge in meeting the customer expectations. Moreover, he/ she is responsible in running the store in terms of sales, operations, implementation of marketing initiatives, inventory-payroll-risk management and most of all the daily processes to maintain the retail biz.

Basically, second in command after the Store Manager.

  1. Buyer

To keep retail business rolling, there is a need to develop product assortments. Notice how Wal-Mart have several products for every type of item? The retail buyer is responsible for this aspect of retailing for what is a retailer without products?

The buyer responsibilities extend to negotiations with contracts, inventory, planning the sales and strictly coordinating with both merchandising and the operations team.

  1. District Manager

The main purpose of a district manager is to act as an overseer of all the operations of a retail store. His responsibilities include dealing with the customers. Meaning that customer satisfaction is their forte. They should also be able to discern and analyze problems as well as solve them.

  1. Visual Merchandiser

The virtual merchandiser’s job is to handle the visual aspects of a store  to make it easier for customers to shop. They handle the details such as design and color. They should also specialize  in floor lay outing and creating displays. The visual merchandiser can be likened to a set designer in movie making and plays. They set the “stage” for the shopper to feel like, well, shopping.

  1. Marketing Specialist / Officer

Marketing is a necessary aspect of retail industry. How else can you tap your target market without marketing initiatives. Products, services are marketed some way or the other to ensure sales. The job of the Marketing Specialist/Officer is to come up with marketing activities to capture the market in avail  the services offered by the retailer.

  1. Customer Support Representative

Have queries about the product or services you have availed? Nowadays, we just call a customer service hotline to enlighten us about our queries. They perform as direct contacts of the company with the customers.

  1. Logistics Officer

The logistics officer handles daily chores such as, inventory, budgeting, purchasing, etc.

It’s their job to coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers. Keeping up to date with the latest trends and forecasts as well as technological advances are part of their tasks. They also make sure that the warehouses are  in tip-top shape. Basically they are accountable for the “physical” aspects of the retailers.
